The greater Chicago metro has one of the highest concentrations of tool and die shops, mold builders, and precision machine shops in the country. The Axhera Network connects buyers with verified wire EDM shops in this corridor — shops with open machine time, real production experience, and same-day quoting.

D2, A2, S7, M2, H13 tool steels. Tungsten carbide. Inconel 625/718. Ti-6Al-4V. 17-4PH, 316L stainless. Beryllium copper. Any conductive material, any hardness.
±0.001" standard (2-pass). ±0.0002" precision (4-pass). ±0.0001" on critical features with temperature-controlled DI water. Positional accuracy ±0.0001".
Ra 8–20 µin (4-pass standard). Ra 4–8 µin available on 6+ pass cycles. Mirror finish for mold shutoffs and gauge work.
Multiple wire EDMs. 0.004"–0.012" wire diameters. Auto-threading for unattended operation. Brass, zinc-coated, and diffusion-annealed wire in stock.
Who Needs Wire EDM
Tool & die shops that don't have wire EDM in-house, or that are at capacity on their own machines. Punches, die openings, stripper details, and trim steels. Progressive die packages with 20–80 features are routine.
Mold shops that need gate inserts, vent slots, ejector pin holes, and parting line shutoffs wire-cut in hardened P20, H13, or S136 stainless.
Machine shops that get an occasional wire EDM feature and don't want to invest in a $150K machine for 20 hours of wire time a month.
OEM engineers prototyping or producing parts with profiles that can't be conventionally machined — sharp internal corners, thin slots, complex 2D geometries in hardened materials.
